We must first understand what happened to the relationship between God and humanity.
In the beginning of his creation, mankind was completely separated from God. For we have a clear understanding that Satan was the propitiation of this fall, God brought man to be reconciled through the sacrifice of Christ Jesus.
(Revelation 12:7-10) Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down, that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.” Gods’ intention on being reunited with his creation was that he’s willing to take the penalty for his people’s disobedience upon himself. He gave his only begotten son for the sacrifice of sin for all humanity.
(John 3:16)
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
We must first understand what happened to the relationship between God and humanity. It started in the Garden, Adam and Eve. The scriptures tell us why we are separated from a Loving God. His intention was for mankind to live a sinless life. But we see that disobedience brought man to fall into sinning against God.
God created a beautiful paradise and a righteous creation.
Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
ADAM AND EVE
Genesis 2:7-23 Then the Lord God formed the man out of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush. And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates. The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Now out of the ground the Lord God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them. And whatever the man called every living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for.him. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. And the rib that the Lord God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. Then the man said, This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”
ADAM AND EVE FALL DISOBEDIENT
The first human couple made a free choice to distrust God and disobey him. The Temptation and the Fall of Adam and Eve is a biblical story that explains the beginning of sin and the fall of humanity. It also serves as a warning about the importance of trusting and following God’s commands. God gave them free will to make the right choice, but they chose to disobey him. As a result, they were expelled from the Garden of Eden and the consequences of their disobedience were felt by the entire human race. This serves as a reminder of the no our will but the will of God alone. It also shows that no matter how hard we try, we can never escape the consequences of our decisions, and that it is important to always obey God’s commands.
Genesis 3:1-3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’ ”
Satan works the first scheme on the human heart
Satans, He appeals to our pride and our desires for power. He also tempts us with the pleasures of sin, promising a false sense of satisfaction and pleasure. He hopes to entice us away from the path of righteousness and towards destruction. He is a master of deception, using our own weaknesses against us. We must be aware of his tactics and resist his temptations. We must stay focused on the path of righteousness and resist the devil’s temptations. We must remain vigilant and pray for the strength to resist his temptations. We must also rely on God’s grace to help us stay strong.
Genesis 3:4-5 You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
He was told that he would not die physically, and also die in spirit and be separated from God. As a result, Adam was forbidden to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, for he knew that doing so would bring consequences that would last forever. Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden and could no longer enjoy the blessings of God. They were doomed to live a life of suffering and sorrow. This marked the beginning of sin and death in the world. Adam and Eve’s disobedience to God’s commandment is a reminder of the power and consequences of sin. Their story serves as a reminder of the importance of obedience to God’s commands and the consequences of disobedience.
The Separation of mankind Adam and Eve Fall disobedient to God
In the book of Genesis, when Satan is beginning to bring about the fall of the first men and women from the glory of God, we see him use his first tactic to convince the woman to disobey the command of God. H tempted her with the forbidden fruit, promising her that she would be “like God” if she ate it. She took the bait and ate the fruit, leading to Adam and Eve’s expulsion from the Garden of Eden and the beginning of original sin. This act of disobedience had a lasting effect on humanity, causing us to be separated from God and to be subject to the consequences of sin. This sin has been passed down from generation to generation, and we are still feeling the effects of it today. As a result, all people are born into a broken world and must work to reconcile with God. This is done through prayer and through obedience to God’s commands. Ultimately, it is through faith in God that we can be saved from the bondage of sin.
Genesis 3:6-8 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
The Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
As we can see, Satan uses the tactic of placing fear in a man’s heart, mind, thinking, feeling, and emotions from the beginning of a man’s life. This fear can lead to a man making decisions that are not in line with God’s will. It is why it is so important to be aware of when Satan is trying to manipulate us and to be aware of our own thoughts and feelings. We must also trust in the Lord and rely on Him to give us strength and courage to resist his temptations. We must also remember to turn to prayer and ask for God’s help and guidance. We must also strive to live a life that is pleasing to God and stay away from things that we know are not in line with His will.
Genesis 3:9-13 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” The man said, “The woman you put here with me, she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.
” The Separation from God The Lords punishment for the Serpent.
Satan is punished by God for bringing his creations into disrepute, and here the Lord tells Satan that he will fall under the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ. This punishment is symbolic of the ultimate triumph of our Lord, who will be victorious over the forces of evil. The punishment also serves to remind Satan that he has no power against the Lord. Tis punishment serves as a warning to Satan and his minions that the Lord is in control and that they will never triumph over Him. It is also a reminder of the power of our Lord and His ultimate victory. This punishment also serves to remind all of God’s faithful followers that He is always with us and will never forsake us. It is an example of His mercy and justice. It is also a reminder of His strength and faithfulness. Finally, this punishment serves as a reminder of the importance of obedience to God and His commands. It also encourages us to remain faithful and to trust in Him.
Genesis 3:14-15 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, “Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” The one who does what is sinful is of the Devil and has been sinning
from the beginning.
The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the work of the Devil that He initiated from the beginning. The Lords punishment for Mankind.
The Son of God was sent to be a sacrifice for our sins and to redeem us from the power of the Devil. His death on the cross was proof of His great love for us and His willingness to save us from eternal damnation. He defeated the Devil and gave us eternal life, and He saved us from our sins and gave us hope and a new life, paid the price for our sins and gave us the gift of salvation. Through His death and resurrection, Jesus made a way for us to be reconciled with God and be saved. He gave us freedom and grace to live our lives to the fullest and gave us the promise of eternal life.
Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”
Genesis 3:17-19 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
THE LORD SAID: THE MAN NOW HAS BECOME LIKE ONE OF US
Genesis 3:20-24 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living. The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
The results of sin and disobedience to God, and complete separation
This results in sin, and sin in Adam and Eve separated mankind from a perfect Righteous Holy God. When God told Adam and Eve, Do not eat from the tree of good and evil, for if you do you will surely die: God meant spiritually and eternally be separated from Him. Adam and Eve sin was a choice, The Sin became a dead condition.
When Adam and Eve sinned the scriptures said:” Sin entered the world, Adam’s Sin’s brought death to all, and death spread to everyone for everyone sinned.
Death through Adam, Life through “Jesus Christ”
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned
God knew we were completely separated from Him through sin.
He couldn’t have a relationship with humans as they were, Because of sin that would conflict His Holiness and Purity. “He could not overlook sin , Because that would violate His Justice. But if he did not do anything to save humanity it would’ve remained eternally separated from him. God’s Holiness couldn’t abide sin and his justice couldn’t overlook on leaving them as they were. Our sin condition has rendered us death and dead people can not do anything to remedy their condition.
His Infinite Love for humanity the Lord had a masterpiece and merciful unique plan. He knew it would have to take a human sacrifice, The death of His beloved Son Jesus Christ.
The plot against Jesus
John 11:45-52
Therefore, many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him. But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them
what Jesus had done. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the Sanhedrin.” What are we accomplishing?” they asked. “Here is this man
performing many signs. If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and then the Romans will come and take away both our temple and our nation.” Then one of them, named Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, spoke up, “You know nothing at all! You do not realize that it is better for you that one man
die for the people than that the whole nation perish.” He did not say this on his own, but as high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the Jewish nation, and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one, So from that day on they plotted to take his life.
John 11:53-56
Therefore, Jesus no longer moved about publicly among the people of Judea. Instead, he withdrew to a region near the wilderness, to a village called Ephraim,
where he stayed with his disciples. When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, many went up from the country to Jerusalem for their ceremonial
cleansing before the Passover. They kept looking for Jesus, and as they stood in the temple courts they asked one another, “What do you think? Isn’t he coming
to the festival at all?” —-But the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that anyone who found out where Jesus was should report it so that they might
arrest him.
There was pride and arrogance among the priests and Pharisees, and the religious leaders. Those of them who refused to socialize with sinners were
particularly proud of their character. It was unthinkable to them that the Messiah would socialize with such a crowd. Afraid of growing public adulation, he sought
to stop him.
Luke 6:7-8 The scribes and the Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He healed on the Sabbath, so that they might find reason to accuse Him.
As a result of Jesus’ deeds, religious leaders were continually angry with him. The outrage of the pharisees and religious leaders was caused most by Jesus’ disregard for their tradition concerning the Sabbath after seeing Jesus heal on
the Sabbath days. Jesus healed a man in their presence.
John 9:1-17 Therefore some of the Pharisees were saying, “This man is not from God, because He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others were saying, “How can a man who is a sinner perform such signs?” And there was a division among them.
There was no way they could tolerate these healings on the Sabbath. As He viewed their religious practices, He was grieved because of the kind of
manipulation they displayed towards His people, the way they perverted the Sabbath, and how they observed it. Jesus then addressed the religious leaders
and said,
Mark 3:4-6 And he Sait unto them, is it lawful to do good on the Sabath days, or to do evil? To save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
The pharisees spoke among themselves and would not believe Jesus would heal on this day. Their response was immediate: register this information with the
leaders of the church. After that, the Pharisees immediately went to the Herodians and began plotting to destroy him. Jesus’ death was desired by the religious leaders and Pharisees for they feared he would expose their ways of exploiting the people through religious manipulation. It was evident to them that Jesus’ superior authority and power were greater than theirs because of the miracles he performed for everyone. They began the plot by looking for anything that could be used against Jesus. In a conversation with an elder, the Pharisees informed him of what Jesus had done on the Sabbath and what he said at the temple, that he would destroy the temple, but in 3 days he would rebuild it. In his statement, Jesus said he would raise the three days.
Mark 13:1-2 As Jesus was leaving the Temple, one of his followers said to him, “Look, Teacher! How beautiful the buildings are! How big the stones are! “Jesus
said, “Do you see all these great buildings? Not one stone will be left on another. Every stone will be thrown down to the ground—-So the Jewish high priests and
elders of the Sanhedrin and their religious leaders could not accept they wanted him dead. They also considered him a threat to their way of life. They were worried about how the Romans would respond to all of this. their contributed to their evil desire hypocrisy, prideful and arrogance that caused them to bring Jesus before Pilate to be crucified, they refused to hear the truth of God and denied that Jesus is the son of God.
As Jesus spoke to His disciples, He told them he would be hung over to be killed.
Matthew 26:1-5
When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples, As you know, the Passover is two days away–and the Son of Man will be handed over to
be crucified. Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, and they schemed to arrest
Jesus secretly and kill him. But not during the festival,” they said, “or there may be a riot among the people.”
Matthew 26:6-13
Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was
among those reclining at the table with him. Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with
her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of perfume. But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, Why wasn’t this
perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as
keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it. Leave her alone,” Jesus replied. “It was intended that she should save this perfume for
the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.”
A large crowd of Jews came to see Lazarus, whom Jesus had raised from the dead, not only due to him, but also because of his presence. As a result, the chief
priests also plotted to kill Lazarus, since many Jews were believing in Jesus because of Lazarus.
Satan began to work his way to Judas when He even had the thought of betraying Jesus, the moment he even contemplated doing so. The betrayal was
based on money, pride, and greed.
Matthew 26:17-19
On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’So the disciples did as Jesus had directed themNand prepared the Passover. Jesus also predicted his betrayal by one of his disciples, He told them that one of them would betray him, and the Lord openly said that who ever eat this bread is the one, He turn onto His left and he place it on Judas mouth and he crying say no lord not me, but he know it was him.
Matthew 26:20:25
When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.”They were
very sad and began to say to him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.” Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”Jesus answered, “You have said so.”Jesus took bread and he broke it, He told them this is my body. Then he took a cup, fruit of wine and when he had given thanks, he saying drink it for this is my blood of the new covenant, for it is poured out for mankind for their forgiveness of sins.
Matthew 26:26-28
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then
he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many
for the forgiveness of sins. After blessing bread and wine and giving it to them to eat and drink. Jesus said to them.
Matthew 26:29-30 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”When
they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
Matthew 26:31-32 Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:”I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the
flock will be scattered.’ But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.”
Jesus predicted that Peter would deny him three times before he crooned the rooster the next morning.
Matthew 26:33-35
Peter replied, “Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will.” Truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown
me three times.”But Peter declared, “Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.” And all the other disciples said the same. At the end of the meal
Jesus instituted the it will be the covenant between God and humans of the decision taking. After the Last Supper, Jesus and his disciples went to the Garden
of Gethsemane to pray.
When Jesus was arrested, Caiaphas, the high priest, took him to trial.
Matthew 26:45-48 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is
delivered into the hands of sinners. Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!” And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people. Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomever I
shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast. He gave Jesus a kiss on the cheek to identify him and the soldiers arrested Jesus.
Matthew 26:49-50 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him. And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then
came they, and laid hands on Jesus and took him. A disciple tried to resist arrest, brandishing his sword and cutting off the ear of one of the soldiers.
Matthew 26:51-52 With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. Put your
sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. —-But Jesus admonished him and healed the soldier’s wound. And He
spoke onto His Peter saying:”
Matthew 26:53-54 Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the
Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?” After his arrest, many of the disciples went into hiding. Jesus was taken to the high priest and
questioned. He was beaten and spat on for not responding
Matthew .26:55-56 In that hour Jesus said to the crowd, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? Every day I sat in
the temple courts teaching, and you did not arrest me. But this has all taken place that the writings of the prophets might be fulfilled. “Then all the disciples
deserted him and fled.
Matthew 26:57 Those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the teachers of the law and the elders had assembled. Meanwhile,
Peter had followed Jesus to the court of the high priests.
Matthew 26:58 But Peter followed him at a distance, right up to the courtyard of the high priest. He entered and sat down with the guards to see the outcome.
While he was hiding in the shadows, three house servants asked him if he was one of Jesus’ disciples and each time, he denied it. After each denial, a rooster
crowed. The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for false evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death. But they did not find
any, though many false witnesses came forward. Finally, two came forward and declared, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and rebuild it
in three days.’ “And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”——The Jewish high priests and elders of the Sanhedrin ask Jesus if he was the son of God? Jesus response to their questions
Matt.26:64-68 Jesus said to him, “It is as you said Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and
coming on the clouds of heaven. “Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! What do you think?” They answered and said, “He is deserving of death. “Then they spit in his face and struck him with their fists. Others slapped him and said, “Prophesy to us, Messiah. Who hit you?” The Jewish high priests and elders of the Sanhedrin accused Jesus of blasphemy
their exclamation was to put him to death.
Matthew 26:69-75 Now Peter was sitting out in the courtyard, and a servant girl came to him. “You also were with Jesus of Galilee,” she said. But he denied it
before them all. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” he said. Then he went out to the gateway, where another servant girl saw him and said to the people
there, “This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth.” He denied it again, with an oath: “I don’t know the man!” After a little while, those standing there went up to Peter
and said, “Surely you are one of them; your accent gives you away.” Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”
Immediately a rooster crowed. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken: “Before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.” And he went
outside and wept bitterly.
The Bible gives us the explanation why Judas hanged himself after the betrayal
The Bible says that Judas hanged himself. In spite of his betrayal of Jesus, Judas, who was watching from a distance, attempted to return the 30 pieces of silver.
According to the priests, Judas’s guilt was inevitable. His behavior was somewhat disturbing. He threw coins into the temple, then hung himself.
Matthew 27:1-10 Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed. So they bound him, led
him away and handed him over to Pilate the governor. When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and
returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders. “I have sinned,” he said, “for I have betrayed innocent blood.” “What is that to us?” they
replied. “That’s your responsibility.” So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. The chief priests picked up the
coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial
place for foreigners. That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the
thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”
The prophecy described in Matthew 27:9-10 Is found in Jeremiah 19:4-6 and 32:6-9, as well as in chapter 11, verse 13 of Zechariah. On the following day, Jesus was brought before the Supreme Court. During the Roman occupation of Judea, Pontius Pilate the Roman governor of Judea, brought before him Jesus, who claimed to be the Son of God. He was ridiculed, beaten, and condemned. As a result, the priests accused him of claiming to be the King of the Jews and demanded that he be put to death.
Matthew 27:11 Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews? “You have said so,” Jesus replied.
Although Pilate found him innocent, unable to find or even contrive a reason to condemn Jesus, he feared the crowds, letting them decide Jesus’ fate. In the beginning, Pilate tried to pass Jesus to King Herod, but Jesus was brought back to Pilate and Pilate told the Jewish priests that he found nothing wrong
with Jesus.
Matthew 27:12-14 When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Then Pilate asked him, “Don’t you hear the testimony they are
bringing against you?” But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge to the great amazement of the governor the Sanhedrin high priests and elders took
advantage by allowing this horrible crime to take place, by accusing Jesus to be hang and nail to the cross, for false ways of saying he was blasphemous.
The Jewish high priests, elders of the Sanhedrin and their religious leaders planned a mascaras scheme to not allow any Jesus followers to come in when
they planned to bring Jesus before the people to make a decision on giving Jesus’ freedom. They only allowed non followers, and they dictated Jesus’ fate to
be crucified and hung on the cross.

Matthew 27:15-18 Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. At that time, they had a well-known prisoner
whose name was Jesus, Barabbas. So, when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus
who is called the Messiah? “For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him. —Stirred by the Jewish chief priests, the crowds
declared, crucify him, Pontius Pilate was a key figure in the trial of Jesus, he ordered Roman troops to carry out Jesus’ death sentence. Roman governor of
Judea and supreme judge, Pilate had the sole authority to execute any criminal the empire of Rome and the religious. scheming by the of the Jewish high priests

Anyone who calls himself king is speaking against Caesar, the priests reminded him. In response to the crowd’s demands, Pilate publicly washed his hands of
responsibility, but ordered the execution. Jesus was whipped and beaten by Roman soldiers, they placed a crown of thorns on his head, and Jesus carried the
cross to the place called Calvary or Golgotha, where he was crucified.
Matthew 27:19-26 While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have
suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him.” But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.”
Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they answered. What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify him!” Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!” When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!” Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged and handed him over to be crucified.
Christ was crucified with two thieves, one on each side of him. He hung under the accusation King of the Jews, while at his feet stood his mother, Mary, and
Mary Magdalene.
Matthew 27:28-31 Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. They stripped him and
put a scarlet robe on him, and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said. They spit on him and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. After they had mocked him,
they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.
As recorded in the Gospels, a number of events occurred during the last three hours of Jesus’ life, including taunts from soldiers and crowds, the agony of
Jesus and his last words.
Matthew 27:32-44 As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. They came to a place called
Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”). There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. When they had
crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is Jesus, the king of the jews. Two rebels were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!” In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself!
He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he
said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
An earthquake ripped the temple curtain from top to bottom as soon as Jesus died on the cross. The sky darkened as he was on the cross, and a sudden storm
broke out immediately after. In order to confirm his death, a soldier stuck a spear in his side, which only produced water.
The Death of Jesus
Matthew 27:45-56 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,
Lema sabachthani?” (Which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling
Elijah.” Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. The rest said, “Now leave
him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.” And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the
temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split, and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were
raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with
him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” He ascended
into heaven and continues to reign as resurrected son of God, still fully man and fully God. Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed
Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.
Joseph had become a disciple of Jesus. Joseph traveled to the governor to plead with Pilate, and Pilate ordered that he be given Jesus’ body. When they took
Jesus’ body, Mary his mother and Joseph as well as other people sang songs as they cleaned the body. Once the preparations were complete, they wrapped the
body in a clean linen cloth, and then placed him in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock.
The Burial of Jesus
Matthew 27:57-61 As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. Going to
Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new
tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were
sitting there opposite the tomb.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Thank you that through your word I acknowledge that from Adam and Eve, sin and death entered the world it brought death and spread to everyone. We were completely separated from you. You commanded Adam and Eve not to eat from the fruit of good and evil, you told them if they eat, they will surely die, and you meant eternally spiritually separated from you. You couldn’t have a relationship with humanity as we were, because of sin, that would conflict with Your Holiness and Purity. You couldn’t overlook the sin because that would violate your justice in your Holiness, you couldn’t abide in sin.
Thank you, Lord, that you couldn’t overlook and leave us as we were. You knew we all are spiritually dead to sin as our condition has rendered us dead, and dead people can do nothing to remedy their own condition. Lord God, thank you that if you didn’t do anything to save humans, we would’ve remained eternally separated from you. Thank you, Lord, that in your infinite love for humanity you had a masterpiece and merciful unique plan. Thank you that you knew it would take a human sacrifice, the death of your beloved Son.
Thank you, Lord, for your son Jesus, who died on the cross to save humanity from eternal condemnation. Thank you that you purchased us with eternal life by your son Jesus shedding his blood on the cross. Thank you, Lord, that I understand that no amount of good works or deeds on my part are acceptable to you, because we were dead. Thank you that we know his death was necessary to bring salvation to all humanity, nothing else could save us.
Thank you, Lord, that you knew that His Death and His Resurrection was indispensable for us to be made right with a Holy and Just God. Thank you, Lord, you finished the work on the cross that gives us reconciliation, justification, sanctification, salvation, redemption, forgiveness, adoption. With your atoning sacrifice bought with a Holy price that give us a zeal that can never be broken. Thank you, Lord in the Righteous Powerful name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
For God Be All Glory, Forever, Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. “By Elda Sullins.

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned
