How The Birth of Jesus the Messiah Came About

THIS IS HOW THE BIRTH OF JESUS THE MESSIAH CAME ABOUT

In Matthew’s Gospel the genealogy begins with Abraham, continues with David Israel’s greatest king and ends with Joseph the husband of Mary, whose lineage is traced back to David.

Placing Jesus in line for the untimely coming of the Messiah, the Anointed One, the heir of David.

Matthew 1:18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.

The Greatest Love, God had for humanity

All creation herald God’s footprints of His power, authority, strength, majesty, sovereignty, dominion, faithfulness, and goodness. All humanity being made in the likeness, uniqueness and essence of God’s image. For everything has been grounded on God’s creation. Genesis 1:1-31

This has been the greatest love and compassion God had for his creation, his love is in his very essence, in all he is and all he does. God has proven his nature about himself to humanity throughout ages. He has maintained a covenantal relationship with humanity since his creation. God knew before the creation that we would be disobedient; he chooses us even in our worst sinfulness. God continues to maintain patience with us and does not want any of us to perish, He shows us mercy.

Nothing God ever does or has ever done has been but of love for his creation. His sovereignty, the Lord upholds his creation and people in love. As we look back upon his loving faithfulness from the beginning of time, we can grow in our assurance that God will continue to vindicate his children and further his kingdom until his plan, purpose and perfect timing comes to full fruition. God appointed us a King that will come from heaven above, this is the greatest demonstration of God’s love for humanity and the most uniqueness gift of his son.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

His Love is Everlasting

From the beginning Mankind was Spiritually and Eternally separated from God.

God commands Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden

Genesis 2:15-17 The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

God is implying that they will become spiritually dead, completely separated from the living god. Satan’s intimation lies and schemes are for all mankind to fall short on the glory of God. Adam and Eve sin and become disobedient falling short of the glory of God, but when Adam and eve sinned, God lovingly provided clothing to cover their nakedness. Genesis 3:1-20

God did not create mankind to live under wrath, he created mankind to live in paradise, to live with the joy and peace he provides. God did not abandon his creation; he had a unique master plan to bring his creation back to be reconciled to himself. The faithfulness of god’s love, we can trust that he will continue to act accordingly in our lives.

From all people on earth God chose a faithful righteous woman: Mary

God chose a faithful, righteous, obedient, pure in heart young woman named Mary. She was from Nazareth in Galilee; a Jewish young woman and she was the relative of Elizabeth and Zacharias. Mary worshipped the Lord with humility and purity in her heart, she was pledged to be betrothed to Joseph. He was a carpenter who will become her husband, but before they come together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy spirit. When Mary confesses the pregnancy to Joseph, he was concerned and in confusion, he did not believe Mary, she nearly lost her fiancé, but God had chosen Mary from all women on earth. He found in Mary, humility, boldness, meekness, compassion, and purity in her heart. She was the perfect young woman to give birth to the son of the living God. God knew that Mary was a woman of rare strength and knew the scriptures.

Luke 1:26-28 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”

Mary fearful and troubled found herself in the presence of the angel Gabriel. Listening to his announcement, God sent his angel to Mary to give her the greatest news of the birth of Jesus. Hearing the news Mary could not comprehend how she would conceive the savior, she responded to God with humble belief and obedience, she was a willing servant trusting in God and obeying his call. The birth of Jesus was through immaculate conception.

Luke 1:29-38 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.” Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So, the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

Mary’s Submits to God’s Plan

Mary’s submission to God’s plan would cost her daily, yet she was willing to be God’s servant. She had been given grace upon grace, an unmerited favor of God. However, she would still suffer throughout her life despite God’s favor. As an honorable mother, she would be highly praised. Nevertheless, she would be first branded as an unmarried mother by the public. It was an honor for her to bear the son of God and to care for him throughout his entire life from birth until death. She remained steadfast in her commitment to God and waited for the birth of her son.

Mary gave birth to Jesus, and they embedded Jesus in the earth so he could grow and learn which prophecies were fulfilled. Mary contemplated the full extent of her son’s future suffering when she realized the price her child would pay. This was bearing the sin of the world and dying on the cross. In the not-too-distant future, she would watch her son die as a savior to the world. She would be surrounded by scarifications as the mother of God’s only son. As a chosen son, a savior chosen by God, Mary was willing to sacrifice everything out of love and devotion to God’s only son, Christ the Master and Saviour of the world.

Mary was blessed to have been chosen as a vessel for God.

Just like Mary, you and I feel less than qualified to serve God. Do not underestimate yourself. Mary trusted God and humbly obeyed him, she was given divine miraculous power. Do not set limits on God and what he may want you to do with your life, He will use you too, if you trust in him and obey him when he calls you to serve him and his people. Mary found extra grace and favor of the Lord on her, God chose Mary for her humility, boldness, and pure heart and in the respect to give birth to the son of the living God.
